Musings

Its like, duuuuuur, an online diary full of thoughts and reflections based on my rather peculiar dysphoric life. Mmmm, all relativity i guess, to be 'odd' or 'peculiar' is to be 'special' and 'interesting', that suits me a whole lot better!

Mistaken Identity

Hi,

I went out, initally supposed to be with my 3 previous shift work partners last night but 2 of them let us down and did a no-show. Ironically, the one with the farthest to travel was the one that made it. Anyhow, we went out to a pub near me which i sometimes use and got the usual odd looks when i walked in (its a small place where everyone knows everyone) and where we sat down i noticed a woman sitting at a table kept looking at me.

This kept making me laugh and unsettled as it was getting obvious and then making me paranoid as i couldnt help but notice it. Any how, after a while i saw her make her way through some peeps and coming towards me trying to catch my eye, at first i looked past her but then realised it was me she wanted. She leaned over and then asked, very politely no hint of sarcam in her voice, dead serious, and said to me, "I'm not being funny but my friend and I are undecided, are you Boy George or Julian Clary?"

Huh?!

Now, i couldnt help finding that really quite funny and was almost speechless about it. I assured her that i was neither and she was then quite embarrassed and made for her table. My friend seemed really quite indifferant to this which was odd in itself. All kinds of thoughts were now going through my mind! I then had to pass her table to go to the toilets and she grabbed me again and apologised and persisted with me accepting a drink from her despite my protestations. I told her i thought the mistaken ID was funny but that they were in their mid 40's and did i look that old?! Anyway, after a bit her male friend left and then shortly afterwards she left, looking back that may have been where i was expected to go talk with her again.

Seems modest of me i know, but when i spoke with the barmaid about it as i had not seen the woman before she told me how the woman made appreciative comments about me when i got there which then kinda fit the picture.

I am sooooo blind at times!
